Summertime in The Chi!

While it’s great to experience NYC during the summertime, it’s also great to see how Chicago gets down during this time of the year! An impromptu visit allowed me to take a “Chi Town” experience to another level. Perhaps the energy of New York was still in me, because I was greeted with industry peers who were getting ready for the TBS Just 4 Laughs special which kicks off June 12-17 in the loop of  the city. I even had the opportunity to talk to comedian D. Banks who is full of zeal to be doing a pre kick off to the event by performing at Jokes and Notes this weekend! Hosted by Comedian BaldHead and featuring comedians Deon Cole and D. Banks, this show will keep you rolling on the floor laughing (The show  is called  “Jokes on You” so be prepared)!

Chicago was definitely showing All that Jazz some love and welcomed me with open arms at a Day Party on the rooftop of the Wit Hotel! It was really great to interact with the native Chicagoan’s and interact with the transplants of Chicago. Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, and Florida were all in attendance and showed their hometown love as well!

While it was great to be in the city doing local things, the tourist bug also attracted me to see what’s going on at the Historic Navy Pier. I must say, I had a treat as I was greeted with a concert which had artists performing Michael Jackson hits!

I also had a chance to check out the Full Moon Festival Fire Jam at the lakefront! It was a perfect evening to watch the fire dancers, listen to the drummers, and enjoy the taste of smoked eats on the grill! I must say hanging out reminded me of the movie Poetic Justice during the family reunion scene. “Hey Cousin Pete!” lol

It was a great way to start the summer in “The Chi” and I’m glad I could experience the city during this season.I look forward to taking more adventures to the city soon and hope you join me!

“My first day in Chicago, September 4, 1983. I set foot in this city, and just walking down the street, it was like roots, like the motherland. I knew I belonged here.” – Oprah Winfrey
