The city of Jacksonville celebrated their 27th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast on Friday, January 17 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, FL. Soledad O’Brien, former CNN journalist and CEO of Starfish Media Group was the featuring Keynote Speaker on this commemorating event which honored Martin Luther King’s legacy. What better way to celebrate life, than to observe an occasion on a weekend where our country also saluted those who have served our nation. On Sunday, November 10, 2013, L.J Holloway & Associates, Inc. presented “An Evening with Will Downing” to support the 7th Annual “Celebration of Life” Benefit Concert at the Florida Theater. A concert celebration, which was ‘fund-filled’ to award scholarships to deserving students majoring in the disciplines of health and science where they are underrepresented.
Last week I kept hearing and reading various themes about “WOMEN”. Whether topic focus was about how women should be treated in relationships, tips on dating/marriage, scriptures about women, and my own personal discussions with friends about the new generation of women. With this theme, I had a vision to have a social gathering with a couple of my friends to view BET’s “Black Girls Rock”. The Black Women’s Expo presented by State Farm held its 19th annual event which celebrated African American women by providing empowering seminars, national speakers, and live main stage entertainment as well as an exhibit hall for tons of shopping! Love has definitely taken over with the support of many to raise funds for the United Negro College Fund’s (UNCF) scholarship recipients. On Thursday, March 28, AT&T presented, “An Intimate Evening with Chante’ Moore” at the Al Hambra Palace in Chicago to support students involved in the organization. The evening started with a private VIP reception which allowed guest to enjoy complementary hors d’oeuvres as well as have a meet and great with the R&B songstress, Chante’ Moore.
