Women ROCK!

Last week I kept hearing and reading various themes about “WOMEN”.  Whether topic focus was about how women should be treated in relationships, tips on dating/marriage, scriptures about women, and my own personal discussions with friends about the new generation of women. With this theme, I had a vision to have a social gathering with a couple of my friends to view BET’s “Black Girls Rock”. I figured such a show would fit the theme that I’ve been hearing about all this week!

With the limelight in media portraying black women as aggressive, bitter, and oppressed, it’s always great to view programs that exemplify the spotlight on black women showing positive gestures in the community and through various art forms such as music. In a society today where praises go up for “ratchetness”, positive programming, leaders in the community, mentors, and other philanthropic efforts mold not only just black women, but all women to live productive lives. Then, to nurture and teach other girls and women those positive traits as well.

Fitting the different topics of “WOMEN” which I heard all last week, I thought about the speech, “Ain’t I a Woman?” by Sojourner Truth and decided to use my ‘creative genome’ to write a poem about WOMEN!

Isn’t or Ain’t I Somebody?

Isn’t or Ain’t I Somebody? Either way I say I am!

Spirit, mind, and soul are characteristics that those adore. Will I walk with that stride or be a bore? Either way, I say, I AM SOMEBODY! Isn’t or Ain’t I?! Define a woman in your eyes, one would see everything they despise, but the beauty that a woman holds, cannot be denied. I for one hold the LOVE, I for two hold the JOY, and I for three hold the PEACE, which are characteristics that cannot cease. My father has created me to be a virtuous woman. I am everything from art to zeal.  I hold everything that those adore. Strength, Compassion, Honor, and Wisdom; no wonder, they call me “Mi Amor”! Isn’t or Ain’t I SOMEBODY? Either, way, I say I am… Because I AM A WOMAN!

God took the time to tell me last week he LOVED ME and if my father is a KING, he wants the very best for me! Ladies, show your greatness in EXCELLENCE! If we want to be treated like Queens, then we need to act like one.  Look like Queens on the outside, but always remember BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP!

WE ARE SOMEBODY, WE ARE WOMEN, WE ROCK, AND  WE ARE ALL THAT!!!!

I ROCK BECAUSE GOD ROCKS!!All that Jazz
