Let’s Pause for a Cause with Joyful Joy

With so many events going on in the city, it’s always exciting to be on the scene where there’s a party with a purpose! On Tuesday, May 22, Joyful Joy Foundation was launched at the XL Lounge in New York, NY. Osas Ighodaro, actress and former Miss Black USA 2010, founded Joyful Joy to sustainably transform the lives of people living under the poverty line in Africa, one community at a time.

A Music & Dance Affair

Celebrations with a theme of “Music and Dance” seemed to be the happening stories in the city! The week of May 7-13th celebrated the Second Annual Harlem Jazz Shrines Festival in Harlem USA’s Historic Jazz Venues. Performances were exhibited in various Harlem landmarks including the Apollo Theater, Club Harlem, Havana San Juan, Lenox Lounge, Minton’s Playhouse, Monroe’s Uptown, Park Palace, Showman’s Jazz Club, and Small’s Paradise which all featured established and emerging artists showcasing sounds of jazz with a flair! What Have ‘I’ Done For Me Lately!

While fortunate enough to have experienced another run of the week with various adventures, I made time to do something for me! Maybe because the song “What Have You Done For Me Lately” by Janet Jackson came on rotation this week and of course the song stayed in my head all week long! So I started thinking, “All that Jazz, what have you done for YOURSELF lately?”
