Celebration of Life Annual Benefit
What better way to celebrate life, than to observe an occasion on a weekend where our country also saluted those who have served our nation. On Sunday, November 10, 2013, L.J Holloway & Associates, Inc. presented “An Evening with Will Downing” to support the 7th Annual “Celebration of Life” Benefit Concert at the Florida Theater. A concert celebration, which was ‘fund-filled’ to award scholarships to deserving students majoring in the disciplines of health and science where they are underrepresented.
Celebrating Sisterhood at The Black Women’s Expo
There was a celebration indeed going on in Chicago at the McCormick Place the weekend of April 5-7. The Black Women’s Expo presented by State Farm held its 19th annual event which celebrated African American women by providing empowering seminars, national speakers, and live main stage entertainment as well as an exhibit hall for tons of shopping! COMMON and Friends Plant Wealthy Seeds Into the Common Ground Foundation
On Saturday, March 23rd, COMMON, Grammy Award Winning Artist and Founder of the Common Ground Foundation, hosted the 3rd Annual Gala and Fundraiser presented by Coca-Cola at the Four Seasons in Chicago; an elegant event which raised funds for the organization and honored those who have climbed the ladder of success in their respected industry all the while, extending their hand to make a positive mark in the community.
AT&T and Case-Mate Partner with COMMON to Benefit Chicago Youth
The phrase “It takes teamwork to make the dream work” could summarize the launch event of AT&T and Case-Mate’s partnership with Grammy Award winning hip-hop artist and actor, COMMON; a man artistic in many creative platforms who used his artistic talent to design smartphone cases to support his nonprofit organization, The Common Ground Foundation.
On Thursday, February 28, the AT&T flagship store at 600 N. Michigan Ave opened its doors to celebrate this partnership with the Chicago community. Read the rest of this entry
It’s Showtime ….
A recent adventure to the Apollo Theater in Harlem USA allowed me to experience one of the treasures which has been the home for many artists from musical genres of blues, jazz, R&B, soul, and hip-hop just to name a few. A talented array of artists and musicians had the chance to make their journey to stardom in this historic treasure. While I’ve walked passed this venue many times, I’ve never taken an opportunity to go inside the doors. Only to see others go in for shows and of course take pictures of myself standing outside the venue.
Let’s Pause for a Cause with Joyful Joy
With so many events going on in the city, it’s always exciting to be on the scene where there’s a party with a purpose! On Tuesday, May 22, Joyful Joy Foundation was launched at the XL Lounge in New York, NY. Osas Ighodaro, actress and former Miss Black USA 2010, founded Joyful Joy to sustainably transform the lives of people living under the poverty line in Africa, one community at a time.
