Everyone has a special talent they can offer to the world. Maybe you’re passionate about drawing out blueprints, being involved in civic engagements, producing music to keep the world entertained, or even teaching future generations. Whatever your passion is in life, use your talents and know the limits are endless.
With all the hustle and bustle going on in the city, it’s always great to have time to reflect and think about life. In today’s time, we live in a “microwave society”. Microwaves cook our food faster and that’s the pace we are living on our journey. In life, we want our careers, relationships, finances, and other desires, right now. We feel we have to make it to the top first, instead of simply living and embracing every moment we have. Read the rest of this entry
Activities from this week gave me the opportunity to reflect on the possibilities of one’s experiences during their journey. As my adventures to various happenings in the city allowed me to meet a diverse crowd of people who had intriguing stories about their ultimate goals, I started thinking about the course of life. One of my favorite quotes from the movie “Forrest Gump” explains just how mysterious life can be with the unforgettable saying from Forrest which goes, “Life is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.” Whether in personal or professional endeavors, there are some instances, which may happen in our life that can detour us from pursing our ultimate goal.
A recent trip to the Sunshine State is all I needed to revitalize my spirit and relieve me from the hustle and bustle of the city. The humidity, greeting from loved ones, authentic southern treats no one can beat, palm trees, and flowing waters made me realize there’s no place like home!
What better way to spend an adventure this week then to have one with a friend whom you haven’t seen in years come to the “Big Apple” and also become acquainted with a new extension for the clique. While hanging out with a dear friend, we shared our current life stories, made new stories, and reminisced on how we created this story in the first place. Different versions were thrown because of excitement, but finally the story was aligned to make us realize our course for today. If it wasn’t for the people in our lives, the love of music, and an artist by the name of Raphael Saadiq, a friendship would have never been garnered into the one established today.
What better way to begin 2012 than to kick off the year with a 30-Day Self- Love Challenge! This challenge created by Akua Soadwa @akuasoadwa, Founder & Director of Gye Nyame Empowerment Project, gives an opportunity for individuals to choose themselves first. Not to be selfish in loving only themselves, but in the end of the challenge to carry the love they have for themselves and help others.
I can remember like it was yesterday taking some time on New Year’s Day to write out my laundry list of goals I had for 2011.
The song by the O’Jays, Christmas Just Ain’t Christmas Without The One You Love is one of my favorite songs to be played during the holiday season. It always reminds me to take some time off and enjoy this glorious celebration with loved ones. Read the rest of this entry
The month of December always brings me such great joy! It’s the last month of the year and while everyone is getting ready for the holiday season and closing of the year, I’m getting ready for my personal New Year celebration! A new year of life and new adventures!
One thing that I enjoy most about celebrating a personal new year is the opportunity to celebrate my journey of the past as well as new adventures that will come. Each year an individual learns even more about who they are and can start to piece the puzzle together of what their purpose is in life. Read the rest of this entry
I hope all of you had a very HAPPY Thanksgiving filled with fellowship and great cuisines! As I reflect on my adventures from last year to this date, I’m constantly reminded of all the things I’m GRATEFUL for! My laundry list of “THANKS” stretches beyond measure. However, I’m most grateful for God’s grace, my family, friends, and adopted brothers and sisters.
Everyday should be a day of THANKS and appreciation for every moment in our lives. It’s through these times that lessons are learned and we can continue to develop as a people. Ms. Diana Ross’ song “Reach Out and Touch” sets the tone for giving THANKS by helping others along our journey. Read the rest of this entry
