When You Believe…
One of the factors that can hinder people from achieving their ultimate greatness is fear. Instead of feeding the mind and soul with FAITH and believing that we can achieve our dreams, we Read the rest of this entry
It’s Showtime ….
A recent adventure to the Apollo Theater in Harlem USA allowed me to experience one of the treasures which has been the home for many artists from musical genres of blues, jazz, R&B, soul, and hip-hop just to name a few. A talented array of artists and musicians had the chance to make their journey to stardom in this historic treasure. While I’ve walked passed this venue many times, I’ve never taken an opportunity to go inside the doors. Only to see others go in for shows and of course take pictures of myself standing outside the venue.
And the Beat Goes On…
One of my greatest passions is music. I can remember as a child flipping through my favorite radio stations and recording on my cassette player to make a soundtrack of all my favorite hits. My soundtrack would include a mix from Oldies, Pop, R&B, and my Hip-Hop! Of course my biggest challenge during my recording session was to know when to cue the stop button so I wouldn’t get the announcer or commercial. At times, when I missed my cue, I would have to delay my session by rewinding and then trying to find the spot where the interruption came in. Usually I would have to rerecord into the song and do my own announcing! After all, the soundtrack was mine so becoming DJ All that Jazz was appropriate!
Whatever Will Be, Will Be…
With all the hustle and bustle going on in the city, it’s always great to have time to reflect and think about life. In today’s time, we live in a “microwave society”. We feel we have to make it to the top first, instead of simply living and embracing every moment we have. Read the rest of this entry
The Law of Numbers
Activities from this week gave me the opportunity to reflect on the possibilities of one’s experiences during their journey. As my adventures to various happenings in the city allowed me to meet a diverse crowd of people who had intriguing stories about their ultimate goals, I started thinking about the course of life. One of my favorite quotes from the movie “Forrest Gump” explains just how mysterious life can be with the unforgettable saying from Forrest which goes, “Life is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.” Whether in personal or professional endeavors, there are some instances, which may happen in our life that can detour us from pursing our ultimate goal.
You Gotta Make it Happen!
Dear friends,
A recent trip to the Sunshine State is all I needed to revitalize my spirit and relieve me from the hustle and bustle of the city. The humidity, greeting from loved ones, authentic southern treats no one can beat, palm trees, and flowing waters made me realize there’s no place like home!
Following the Course…
What better way to spend an adventure this week then to have one with a friend whom you haven’t seen in years come to the “Big Apple” and also become acquainted with a new extension for the clique. While hanging out with a dear friend, we shared our current life stories, made new stories, and reminisced on how we created this story in the first place. Different versions were thrown because of excitement, but finally the story was aligned to make us realize our course for today. If it wasn’t for the people in our lives, the love of music, and an artist by the name of Raphael Saadiq, a friendship would have never been garnered into the one established today.
